The History of Greater Valley EMS

1948 - Founded as Sayre Fire Department Ambulance Corps
1964 - SCUBA Team Formed
1981 - Allison Street Building Purchased
1981 - Corps Provides Advanced Life Support
1986 - Rescue Division Formed
1989 - Name Changed to Greater Valley Emergency Medical Services
1995 - GVEMS starts wheel chair & medivan services
1996 - Moved To New 10 Bay Garage on North Lehigh Avenue
1996 - Ambulance Crews Sent To Upstate New York Ice Storm for Relief
1998 - Named Pennsylvania Ambulance Service of The Year
1999 - GVEMS and Guthrie EMS Consolidate To Form One Service
2000 - Montrose Minute Men Join Greater Valley EMS
2002 - EMS Bike Team Formed
2003 - Second 10 Bay Garage Added on North Lehigh Avenue
2004 - The Rapid Intervention Team Formed
