Sayre, Pa – Time is running out to get your application in to receive a FREE Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) for your business or organization through a program called Dare to Defib. The program’s originators, Greater Valley EMS, are encouraging Valley businesses to be proactive in providing a life-saving shock should a customer or employee go into cardiac arrest. The company has been raising money all year and through their recent golf tournament and now have enough funding to provide the Valley community with six new AEDs.
The Dare to Defib program includes the AED and American Heart AED CPR/First Aid Certification training for up to ten employees/members per organization. Grants will be considered based on number of employees/customers in the vicinity of placement, the willingness of employee/members to learn CPR and the feasibility of using the AED in the immediate neighborhood. Grant applications for 2010 are accepted until November 1, 2010. Applications received after November 1st will be applied to the 2011 Dare to Defib grant program.
Karen Duggan, owner of Horn’s True Value in Sayre, participated in the Dare to Defib program in May of this year. She states “We decided to get an AED for our store because if we save one life in our store or in the neighborhood, it’ll ” She continues “The process was quick & easy ….”
